The Super-Record 11 speed cassette is constructed in three 'groups'. The six lowest (largest) cogs are titanium and are arranged in two groups of three, each group riveted to an alloy carrier. Making the largest cogs out of titanium allows the most weight savings, and since those cogs see the least torque, the softer titanium won't wear down as much. The last group consists of the five highest gears (smallest cogs), crafted from steel for strength and to keep the price down (relatively!). Thanks to this new construction technique, the cassette resists twisting by 180% more than 10 speed cassettes, and each individual cog is 70% stiffer. Refined teeth profiles also optimize the closer spacing of the 11 speed cogs, and reduce wear on the chain.Use 11 speed chains only on 11 speed cassettes.
